Welcome to our site

Welcome to the Krugersdorp Methodist Church website! We are a worshipping community based in the heart of Krugersdorp, committed to forming disciples of Christ and being used by God to change our world. This front page will change regularly as we add news items, but you can find out more about KMC by exploring the menus above. You can email any feedback or suggestions to us - we'd love to hear from you!

Here is a copy of the flyer for the Enviromend launch on 5 September. If you are planning on planting something for Arbour Day, take this flyer before 5 September to one of the nurseries mentioned and you'll get a 10% discount on the purchase of any indigenous plants.

Romanza

Romanza in full voiceWhat a great evening we had last night at the Centenary Hall in Krugersdorp! The venue was perfect, the performers were exceptional and, while the numbers aren't in yet, it was clearly a huge success as a fundraiser for the new church in Noordheuwel. A big thank you to Paul Obermeyer and the fantastic team of musicians, to Val and Rob for co-ordinating the event, to Jimmy for handling ticket sales, to Willie and Beth for all their printing help and to everyone who attended the event, sold tickets, or helped out on the night. It all made for a memorable and very successful evening!

New KMC project

EnviromendJoin us on Arbour Day (Sunday 5 Sept) for the launch of a new KMC / NMC environment project. The service on that morning will focus on caring for creation and will be followed by the opening of a new recycling centre (at both KMC and NMC) and a tree-planting ceremony at NMC. Watch this space for more details.

Pancakes

The pancake evening at KMC is a well supported annual event. This year some funds were raised for the new building at NMC, but mostly it was a great evening of being together as family - lots of laughing and catching up. And a little over-induging...

Preparing for Easter Sunday at NMC

After a quiet couple of weeks, there is activity on the new church site again. Our builders are preparing the ground for the two tents which will be erected in time for Easter Sunday. The ground will be compacted and the floor of the tent paved with bricks.

The tents are ready for collection from the manufacturer and in the meantime, our creative team are hard at work finalising plans for the interior of the tent.

We are busy arranging street signs and a big sign for the site itself.

Home groups and other small groups in the church are working on designs for banners to display inside the tent.

Please keep praying with us!

NMC update

Earlier this week we placed an order for the tents that will serve as our temporary home while the new building is being constructed. Services will take place in a 9 x 18m tent, with an additional 7 x 12m tent to be used for the Sunday School. We plan to use a gravel floor and are presently sorting out water, sewerage and electrical connections to the site.

See you there in April ...

Lent 2010

Lenten theme 2010Lent, the season of preparation before Easter, begins tomorrow. We will be together in our Ash Wednesday service tomorrow evening as we commence this journey together.

The Catholic Mass beautifully expresses the mystery of the cross  - "dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life". This Lent we will be entering into that mystery as we seek to die to self and be raised to new life in Christ.

NMC progress

Steady progress is being made in preparation for the new chuch plant. We've had a couple of hiccups with the building itself, but the ground has now been levelled and the buiding brains trust is gathering on Saturday for an important meeting to map out the immediate priorities for the next two months. Our youth and Sunday school team has met and is thinking creatively about the logistical challenges that await us. Fundraising efforts are well underway. And we have a proposed logo. Please keep praying with us!

Carol singing

A few drops of rain were not enough to dampen spirits on Friday evening as we gathered on the site of the new church to sing carols together. The rain cleared, the umbrella's were packed away, a rainbow appeared and it turned into a beautiful evening. Thanks to all who helped make the evening a success - it was a special privilege to celebrate the coming of Christ in that setting and on that land.
